It’s been a landmark year for Scottish Fuels as we celebrate a new initiative for 2021: our Inclusion and Diversity forum. This forum will encourage diversity champions, each with their own background and experiences, to share their stories.
We want to encourage an ‘open and honest’ culture here at Scottish Fuels, and are proud of the solid female representation in our management teams. However, our forum activity so far has shown us that more can be done.
Choose to challenge
For International Women’s Day 2021, Scottish Fuels chose the theme #ChooseToChallenge. This encourages all of us, male, female and non-binary, to call out gender bias and inequality.
We’re proud to support these awareness days as they encourage conversations, and dare us to challenge our own thinking.
How Scottish Fuels is supporting IWD21
We’re following three key initiatives to show our support for IWD21:
Improve and inspire – running surveys to empower our female workforce to have their say, then work on making improvements based on the findings.
Can do and will do – creating colleague quizzes to test our knowledge and encourage conversations.
Open and honest – supporting women across the business to share their stories.
In particular, we’re proud of the last point – encouraging women to have their say and tell us their experiences. The feedback we have had back so far has been positive, from supporting female tanker drivers to challenging gender bias in the energy sector.
We want to say a huge thank you to Scottish Fuels’ female workforce for taking part, and continuing to contribute to make Scottish Fuels what it is.
