Shetland Girls & Womens Football Club Scores £1500 Grant from Scottish Fuels
To help continue our efforts towards supporting local organisations, Scottish Fuels, has granted the Shetland Girls & Women’s Football Club a much-needed boost of £1500. This funding helped the club’s U16 and U12 teams as they geared up for two important games: the U16 & U12 Inter-County competition and the U13 Flotta Cup, both of which took place against Orkney on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th September 2024.
Empowering Youth Through Sport
This grant has benefited 46 young footballers by covering their essential travel and accommodation costs. As these young athletes travelled from Shetland to Orkney, the funds helped towards ferry tickets and lodgings for the two-day events, enabling them to take part this exciting experience.
For many of these young players, participating in such high-profile matches is a critical part of their development both on and off the field. These inter-county competitions not only provide valuable playing experience but also foster team spirit and community pride.
Supporting Local Communities
Scottish Fuels has a presence in both Orkney and Shetland, and by supporting local events like these football competitions, our aim is to actively give back to the communities we serve. With this initiative, we aim to spotlight our commitment to local engagement and highlight the positive impact such contributions can have on young players such as the Shetland Girls & Womens Football Club.
Celebrating the Partnership
The Shetland Girls & Womens Football Club were thrilled to have received this grant, and both the club as well as Scottish Fuels were keen to share the good news with the local community. Even better news…a 7-0 win for Shetland!
By working together, companies like Scottish Fuels and local organisations like the Shetland Girls & Womens Football Club are setting a positive example for how partnerships can make a tangible difference in local communities. Here’s to a bright future for Shetland’s footballers and many more successful collaborations to come!
